The company takes its name from Ruth and bears elements of the coat of arms of Mürren, Switzerland where Ruth hails from.

Now owned and managed by Joel Bradley, nephew to Hugh and Ruth, the company is based in West Melton Christchurch; right on the gateway to the Southern Alps. We welcome visitors so please don't hesitate to give us a bell and make an appointment.

As H.R. Bradley Gunmaker, Hugh will focus on his passion for sporting arms and producing the finest quality bespoke arms for the discerning hunter and collector. He will be available and will continue to provide top quality service to our Blaser customers to keep your weapons shooting in top order. Ruth is Swiss and was apprenticed in sales and marketing with the famous Swiss shoemakers Bally.

Ruth's passion has always been the outdoors, skiing, climbing and trekking and her lifestyle at her alpine home in Murren Switzerland was the catalyst for the development of Stager Sport with her selection of Meindl Footwear; the worlds leading technical bootmakers.

Hugh Bradley originally operated as H.R. Bradley Guns Ltd and then formed the company Bradley Small Arms Manufacturing Ltd in the early 1980's. This company was based at Washdyke in Timaru and manufactured a range of models of rifles from sporting to target in left and right hand in both rimfire and centrefire.

The firearms that Hugh produced at the Bradley Small Arms plant in Timaru received a number of awards, firstly the N.Z. Designmark Award, secondly the NZ Industrial Design Award and finally the Design Council Prince Philip Award of Merit for firearms design and manufacturing methodology.

Hugh then formed Gunmakers NZ and after a number of years finally amalgamated with Ruth's footwear importing and Stager Sport had evolved.
